A popular West Des Moines chain-restaurant known for its scantily clad waitresses and its wings has closed its doors.

The Hooters on 22nd Street is no longer open.

A sign on the door thanks customers for their business but said the closing was effective as of Monday.

Hooters chains are facing increased competition from other chains like Twin Peaks. That restaurant opened on University Avenue in West Des Moines last year.

A statement given to Channel 13 said, “Hooters LLC and Franchise operators continuously evaluate the business performance of restaurants. On occasion, circumstances regretfully lead to closing a location.”

The closure comes on the same day Hooters announced it will reopen two Iowa restaurants in Council Bluffs and Davenport.
